Fata Morgana is a phenomena: an object or aspect known through the senses rather than by thought or intuition; a temporal or spatiotemporal object of sensory experience. As one wanders around Arts Quad in the middle of the night, they will unexpectedly encounter it.
Appearing as an illusion, the installation enhances the phenomenological qualities of its surrounding context by providing screens for trees to cast their shadows on. Sheets of rice paper were taped together to form four sides of the artwork, before the pieces were suspended from tree branches using metal joints inserted through the fragile paper.
